As the Journey Continues…Farewell from the Community Manager and Storyteller

As my time at M E Clarke Consulting comes to a close, Meghan has asked that I write a reflection on my time here. So here we go! I started working with Meghan and Lucy at the beginning of January as Community Manager and Storyteller. As I started to reflect on my time here, I flipped through my notebook and I found perhaps the best explanation of my time here on the very first page, written the night before my first day of work.

I was so anxious about my first day, as anyone is when stepping into a new role, but it was more than that because this role was unlike any I had experienced before, which is a bit scary! So in order to appease my mind, the night before my first day, I looked over the website, thought back to the conversation Meghan, Lucy, and I had about what the position would entail, and I made a list of all the things I thought I could/should accomplish.

Here it is, exactly as it appears in my notebook:

Internal Communication

  1. Establish a voice–set of brand words
  2. Identify brand attributes and values
  3. One succinct all encompassing brand statement – tagline? “mission statement”

External Communication
Marketing Plan

  1. Create Current Brand Book
  2. Update Brand
  3. Primary Communication Fields
  4. Website-new office space
  5. Facebook
  6. Twitter
  7. Email-Newsletter?
  8. Brand Video/Infographic
  9. Case Studies!
  10. Open House

Little did I know, we would accomplish every single one of these items and oh, so much more! I say we, because while managing these tasks, pushing them forward, and carrying them out was my responsibility, it was a team effort.

A large portion of my time here was spent digging into, and identifying the essentials of what makes up M E Clarke Consulting and then communicating my findings with all of you! I acted as a Discoverer or Explorer because all of these things that I brought to light already existed. I simply acted as a guide with a spotlight to showcase all of the great work already being done. Whether my day was spent, refining the mission statement, writing a blog post about a session with one of our partners, or tweeting about leadership, everything was grounded in the foundation and voice of M E Clarke Consulting.

What I’m trying to say is that I was honored to be “the voice” for M E Clarke Consulting but the greatness remains in “the fire” and “the rock”. It’s amazing to look back and see all that we were able to accomplish in such a short period of time. We’ve built up a social presence and put in place a lot of great processes for success. I truly believe M E Clarke Consulting is on trajectory of growth and greatness and I look forward to following along on their continued journey by discovery.
