Make it a Mandela Day: Join a Global Movement for Good!
“It is in your hands to create a better world for all who live in it”
~Nelson Mandela, 1983
Nelson Mandela has certainly made an impact on the world from individuals to communities to the global understanding of what it means to serve others. Mandela lived by three rules: Free yourself, Free others and Serve everyday. This was his way of life.
Mandela Day was inaugurated as a tribute to Nelson Mandela and carries on his legacy: to make the world a better place. This legacy is so strong that the United Nations also adopted the “Nelson Mandela International Day” beginning on November 10, 2009. The message is simple – make everyday a Mandela day – each individual has the ability and responsibility to impact positive change every day.
The Mandela Day movement asks:
“Whether as an individual, community, business, non-governmental organization (NGO) or a government department, all you have to do on July 18 is donate 67 minutes of your day to doing something good in any way you can.The late Mr. Nelson Mandela gave 67 years of his life to the struggle for social justice. Can you spare 67 minutes of yours to support a charity or serve your local community?” http://www.mandeladay.com
On July 18th the world will celebrate Nelson Mandela’s birthday. What will it look like for each of us to celebrate his life and legacy in a manner consistent with the way he led his life: serving fellow human beings?
Make it a Mandela Day because “positive change begins with small actions.”
Make it a Mandela Day because there is so much need.
Make it a Mandela Day because you can.
Make it a Mandela Day just because…
