2013 in Retrospect
“Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.” – Carl Bard
2013 has been a time of incredible growth for M E Clarke Consulting, LLC (MECC). With the growing demands of our partners both in terms of pure numbers as well as the depth and the scope of the work, meant that we had to expand. In waltzes, Lucy Voegele, bringing her extensive experience in business processes and program management. In addition to being an extra set of hands for our partners, she has focused much of her time on building the necessary infrastructure for the company. She has been a key player in helping to take a closer look at the business while still managing the constant demands of the work. MECC launched eight (8) new initiatives in 2013 including six (6) projects with current partners while maintaining our relationships with our local and national clients (6). We partnered with various groups in processes that span from strategic visioning to leadership development to conflict coaching. Two of our new partners, the College Conservatory of Music and The School of Human Services at the College of Education, Criminal Justice and Human Services requested our help on large scale, strategic efforts. M E Clarke Consulting, LLC (MECC) launched 2013 with a question –how do wedeliver a higher level of service to our partners while still holding true to our core passions and values? This notion of balance and self-care at times seem to be counter to the growing demands of our schedule and the needs of our clients. Though the idea, that ‘our lives are our message’ continues to be true, the intensity of the work created a need for us to rededicate ourselves to the premise that maintaining our centeredness is, in fact, a gift to our partners (not to mention everyone else around us). So in addition, to holding ourselves accountable to self care practices, we decided to create another retreat, Peace for the Peacemakers Part II. See an upcoming retreat we are offering in May. In addition, we dedicated time to our own strategic thinking. Thus began the partnership with Aileron in Dayton, Ohio where we devote one day per month for strategic visioning. Coupled with Meghan’s attendance in the President’s Course on Professional Management and ongoing strategic partnership with Marty, our business advisor, we have launched a conversation that will take us into new realms of possibility.
Meanwhile, the work continues, in ever deeper, more engaging and exciting ways. Just wait to see what unfolds in 2014…
