IT@UC Leadership Academy
We are excited to share another milestone: the launching of IT@UC Leadership Academy on Tuesday September 23rd. Now in it’s second year, a new round of participants will gain valuable leadership experience together.
Thirty-five people applied over the summer to be a part of this professional development opportunity, out of which twenty-one were chosen. The chosen participants are then going to be paired with leaders from within UC and from outside partners, who will act as mentors throughout the year. It was amazing to see IT leaders from across the campus including representatives from UC Blue Ash, UC Clermont, the College of Engineering, the Athletics Department and the College of Education, Criminal Justice and Human Services in the creation of the second cohort. The first session included a presentation on Greenleaf’s model of Servant Leadership.

Topics to be explored in depth include:
Servant Leadership: We will explore the premise of servant leadership and how it is essential to who we are as leaders both within our teams and across IT@UC.
Emotional Intelligence: In addition to defining emotional intelligence, we will identify key scales and dimensions of leadership, construct our EQ-i 2.0 profiles, as well as plan ways to use emotional intelligence at work and in life.
Strengths 2.0: This will be an exploration of Strengths Finder which includes completing the individual assessment, group analysis and conversations on using strengths to be a better leader.

Leadership as a Journey, not a Destination: Peer Today, Boss Tomorrow- we will look at ways to navigate the change to a managerial role.
Communication: This topic will focus on what drives us in our conversational patterns. We will uncover healthy motives and learn to adopt different strategies that will lead to clearer communication.
Budget/ Finance: We will explore the internal budget formulation process as well as take an in-depth look at Performance Based Budgeting, the current model being used at UC.
Diversity, Inclusion & Safe Zone: The Chief Diversity Office and the LGBTQ office will lead the Leadership Academy in a training on diversity and inclusion as well as creating a safe office.
Innovation- the Disney Model: The Disney Approach to Quality Service is the result of over five years of experience in exceeding the Guest’s expectations.
